He was not in the room for 5 minutes and everybody already knew he owned 10, 000£ a year and half of the Derbyshire. And people wonder why he’s so aloof and cold in society. Can’t imagine how it is to be constantly surrounded by mercenary people.

The description at the top is incorrect. Elizabeth is not 'a woman beneath his class.' Darcy and Elizabeth are from the same class. He is a gentleman and she is the daughter of a gentleman. The difference in their wealth does not change their position in society.

I know caroline is supposed to be an unlikeable snob but i can't help but love her look in this movie

There is little doubt in my mind why this poor guy was so miserable.. when he signed up for the role, Matthew MacFadyen was issued a personal trainer and placed on a strict diet to get him in shape for the Darcy role.. plus he had a new baby and just wanted to be home.. in addition they had him running in the fields when he was not filming scenes.. the pressure on him must have been significant.. would have made anyone miserable!

In spite of all of this, Matthew rose to the occasion and turned in a magnificent performance as Darcy.. the best ever in my opinion..

Have always admired this fine actor.. have seen almost everything he has done and find him to be a brilliant actor indeed..

Btw.. Matthew MacFadyen is is an absolutely beautiful man.. no wonder we love him..most
