In the movie Persuasian with Ciaran Hinds and Amanda Root, There was a scene where he had helped Anne into a carriage, and as he walked away, he also stretched out his hand in that manner. She took it as though he was trying to get rid of the feeling of her touch because she felt he disliked her.
