Alligator Sightings In Lakes In Tarrant And Denton Counties

This is crazy. I used to swim in Lake Lewisville as a kid. had no idea that the lake had gators in it.

I don't hold nothing against alligators, but I don't think I will enjoy it.

It's not going to stop me from swimming or any other water activities. I was a kid in Florida when we sometimes saw them while swimming and we were never bothered by them (but kept a good eye on them for sure). I think people from Florida treat gators like Russians treat bears, and the rest of the world thinks were nuts.

Why aren't they telling people not to swim there?

The reason why people are seeing so many more of these Gators is yes it has to do with the recent rains creating currents in the lakes that Gators do not like they try to stay away from that because they know they will drown and they typically had closer to shore when that happens

Is this why people were disappearing at lake Lewisville all them years?

These guys are part of the reason the Marsh Boardwalk was not rebuilt to the original loop. Now the gators and turtles like to sun bathe on it.

What there have always been alligators in the lakes... my dad was a boat mechanic at lake Lewisville we used too spot them at least one a day.... next headline alligator gars???

Every lake and pond in Tampa area has gaters packed in there..I would never go for a swim out there but I recently moved to Tarrant County TX and there's a nice trail at Grapevine Lake called Northshore Trail.. leads up to a small secluded beach and I am tempted to go for a swim next time I hike out there.. any thoughts from locals out here??

I don't celebrate alligators but I do respect them and keep a safe distance.

Wait until it takes a few people swimming or boating.
Department of Fish and Game need to catch them for relocation.
Texas residents cannot afford a loss of life to protect a few dozen big predators.
