people scoffing at hyundai making a fun to drive affordable performance cars but then will go on to complain about the lack of fun to drive affordable performance cars

I don't think the general public will remember this car, but enthusiasts that have driven it sure will

Remember. This is engineered by Albert Biermann. That’s a name that holds quite a lot weight in the automotive world.

Right car but wrong reviewers what a shame the car deserves better.

Not sure I understand why they would bother going to the track to cruise around at city speeds. Some Hagerty stuff is good, this one isn’t at all insightful unfortunately.

I like how she nonchalantly just says 275hp is low. I mean 275 is no slouch bruh

I grew up seeing the Tiburon now I see Hyundai with the Veloster N and I have to say they are on top of their game right now🔥

On one hand people are complaining that North America don't get the GR Yaris and on the other hand people don't even appreciate the fact that we got the Veloster N which is slightly better than GR Yaris in overall usability and performance. Also, giving veloster N a sound score of 5 is just unfair. All the veloster n owners would know that manual version sounds better and got more pops and bangs than the DCT version. This car in stock form sounds better than any stock vehicles that's below $40000. The car rotates very well if you drive it properly and it oversteers.

Veloster N is for the kind of people who see driving as their hobby and for people who appreciate their time in a well engineered masterpiece that is fun and simple.

there are cars that sound better? lol...i'd love a list of those cars...i've watched literally 25 reviews of this car and that's the one thing they've all agreed on... until you two lol

I think Hyundai got it right with the Veloster N
I think it’s a great hot hatch for the money🔥

I don't get the "It's FWD so it automatically gets a lower score" deal. FWD is not what it used to be. You can't gush over it's handling capabilities and then just give it a lower score "because FWD". If it handles good, it handles good. Doesn't matter what wheels the power goes to.

Odd that her gripes with it are essentially solved by buying a car for 2-3x the money. That's not where the N competes.

Also, why are they ragging on the 3 doors in the looks department? You can't even tell it has a rear door on the passenger side from more than 3 feet away because Hyundai's done such a good job hiding the handle and body lines.

Did you guys drive the car in N mode? I didn't hear the pop and crackles.

Were you guys running that thing in N mode? That DCT runs solidly with the Civic Type R on a track and actually outruns it from O-60 and in the 1/4 mile. The exhaust is insane when you adjust the aggressiveness which can be done on the touchscreen. Seems like you guys were running it in ECO mode.

Great video! While many car companies are getting out of the hot hatch segment, Hyundai jumps in with this beauty. Well done Hyundai. Well done. BTW if you like any of these hot hatches, especially with manuals plus a warranty, find a way to get them more sooner than later because there is no telling how much longer they will be available with all the strict car regulations coming.

Kim is the typical car buyer, turns her nose up at the Hyundai badge until she drives it and gets educated. Hyundais (and Kias) are great cars. People need to get over the old stigma of the badge on the hood.

Only 275hp? How much power do you need in a small hatchback? Pointless comment.

I'd rather have this over any other hatch on the market in North America. Just make mine a manual, please.

I have to wonder if anyone complaining about this car has actually driven one. Then I would challenge them to find a better car (brand new not used) for the same money. The reviews I have watched are very positive! Most complaints center around the interior. Lots of hard plastic, no heated seats, things like that. The DCT is one of the best I have driven in the 30k range! Shifts are fast and predictable. The car is always ready to pull hard especially in N mode. The engine is smooth as butter, even at the top of the RPM band! The drivetrain is very well sorted and the suspension and steering do nothing but compliment it. Car continues to impress me every time I drive it. It might not be the fastest but there is plenty of bang for the buck!

What do you mean there's other turbo cars that sound better than this like what? Mercedes a45s? That sounds like a vacuum cleaner golf gti? Get out of here focus st? Good but not veloster n levels of good i would argue this has the best sound of ANY four cylinder engine only rivaled by the mini Cooper s/jcw i will go a step further and claim it sounds better than most v6/inline 6 cars it genuinely sounds great
