As much as we love to hate them, villains are a hugely important part of most video games. There are some villains, however, that we do wish would just sit things out, on account of the fact that they’re so blooming scary. From spooky royalty like Resident Evil and Silent Hill to less frightening franchises like Final Fantasy and Bloodborne, here are our 10 Most Terrifying Video Game Villains!

I think the part of the witches that's scary for me is the weeping implies they're conscious of their state of being and their actions on some level but are incapable of stopping themselves.

I was here to see if the Xenomorph from Alien: Isolation made this list...the only game that has legitimately scared me I have ever played. The first time you see the Xeno coming at you in the vents is truly a thing of nightmares.

The most terrifying villain for me is deep water. Even in games like Fallout 4 where I know nothing is there I still can't bring myself to swim around in it and games like Subnautica are completely out of the question lol.

Kind of a forgotten game, but I would have included Serial Killer X from Condemned: Criminal Origins. He was absolutely terrifying in a "real life" kind of way.

The Crones from Witcher 3 would be up there for me.

The one that got me is the Leshen in Witcher 3. The first time I turned around and saw one of them was a real "Oh shit" moment for me.
