Horror games are known for many reasons and aspects. Sometimes it's the chilling story, and other times it's the creepy atmosphere, but in many cases the jump scares are just too powerful to be ignored or forgotten because they simply reach your heart in a way that makes them dominate your memory. That's why today I'm going to talk about 10 times and specific moments in horror games where they literally gave us a hard time and a heart attack simulation.

That part in the original Outlast after you miss the jump, fall into the basement and it's pitch black, you turn the night vision camera on and see you're surrounded by psychopaths who then start chasing you in one of the scariest things I've experienced in my life.

Jumpscares in games tend to work a lot better than movies due to that personal immersion factor a film doesn't have. I played From The Darkness about a year ago and that moment after getting the bolt cutters and turning around almost shot me through the ceiling! I needed 5 before playing again after that one lol.

I don't know if it's just me, but the one in 'From The Darkness' is the scariest and most surprising, especially because the whole game is a nightmare when it comes to atmosphere, and everything weird you see pretty much shakes you, let alone seeing that thing right in front of your face.

The jump scare in the flashback at the school in outlast 2 got me so bad I had to stop playing for the day. That whole thing at the school was so well done, every flashback got more sinister, absolutely terrifying.

I played a lot of horror games like RE7: biohazard, penumbra, the evil within, P.T, alien isolation, outlast: whistleblower, ETC. But darkwood is the only horror game (without cheap jumpscares) that gave me serious tension during gameplay its atmosphere alone brings you a total nightmare especially during nightime inside your hideout. Probably, the best top-down horror game i've ever played.

To me in Visage the scariest of them all was the tar man, or whatever he was called. He was like a secret monster and one time, after beating the story and exploring the house to get everything and thinking it was safe, he just came out out of a wall and started chasing me

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard was one of the scariest games I've played. I played it through in VR first. Madison is coming to VR soon. I can't wait for that one. It's going to be terrifying.
