It's is also possible with only the use of subtraction.

1. Subtract the smaller number from the larger one.
2. The outcome replaces the previous larger number.
3. Repeat step 1 and 2 until the outcome is 0.

27 - 9 = 18
18 - 9 = 9
9 - 9 = 0 --> so 9 it is

36 - 24 = 12
24 - 12 = 12
12 - 12 = 0 --> so 12 it is

54 - 18 = 36
36 - 18 = 18
18 - 18 = 0 --> so 18 it is

391 - 102 = 289
289 - 102 = 187
187 - 102 = 85
102 - 85 = 17
85 - 17 = 68
68 - 17 = 51
51 - 17 = 34
34 - 17 = 17
17 - 17 = 0 --> so 17 it is

hi i done this for the numbers 3780 and 2268 and i got 108 :/ which goes into both but isnt the highest factor (756 is) do you know how i can fix this? (sorry if its a silly comment )
