I've actually heard that Oblivion fact before, and it has been endlessly useful to me ever since. Any time I do something that makes me feel stupid - I remember that there was, at some point, someone that thought giving voice actors all of their lines in alphabetical order... was a good idea.

My favorite fact about Oblivion is that the lore is so deep that Sir Patrick Stewart said the backstory for Uriel Septim VIII was the best preparation he's ever had for any role in his career. This is a character who died during the tutorial of the game as the inciting incident.

I also love the fact that in some quests they just didnt cut out the bloopers and so you can hear the npc say something, then mess up, hesr the VA talk about it and then try the line again. Magical

Well, when your game has hundreds of NPCs, and you spent your entire voice acting budget on Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean, and you have about six interns to voice the rest of the characters, I can see how you might think that recording the voice lines alphabetically is the most efficient approach.

Every time I hear the Oblivion VAs got their lines in alphabetical over, it sends me into hysterics all over again. Whatever they were on when that decision got made, it ain't good and I want none of it, thank you, I prefer to do things that make sense to a person with even a peanut for a brain
