That's why character creation takes so much time, gotta make sure not to look like a lime.

Fun fact: in oblivion, the face gen system they used for NPCs and the player was only ever used by *golf* games of all things, and designed to make the hundreds of random but okay-at-a-glance faces for the crowds shown in those golf games.

It was not at all meant for creating unique or visually appealing individuals.

Almost ALL the races in Oblivion looked horrible. The men and elves looked like Play-Doh, the orcs had their skull crushed in, and Khajiits looked like they just pasted a muzzle onto a human head. The only ones that looked good were the Argonians, and the humans somehow don't look as bad as the elves with the play-doh look, especially the Redguards.

The nerds were ready and rushed into the gate forcing the deadra to close them in fear of being over run.

I'm currently playing through Oblivion after I've over years played hundreds of hours in Skyrim
I knew all characters were gonna look bad so u chose to play as an Argonian and I made her as much of an eyesore as I physically could
She's so brightly colored that she practically glows in the dark

Oblivion minmaxxed quest design. Sure the world is low res and the characters are potatoes, but nearly 70-80% of all Oblivion quests are bangers.

I love oblivion so much, but even I can’t defend the character’s faces. That’s why I can’t wait for skyblivion next year !

Oblivion is the era of trying to make things more round but they ended up TOO round

Morrowind had what was essentially a long-haired stoner dark elf option that I obviously went for everytime. Dude was chill as fuck.

Oblivion. Try to make it presentable, but immediately stop caring the moment you get a cool helmet. I typically go for Breton and Atronach sign. Egad! A Breton player?! Trust me, trust me, it wasn't that bad. Turns out having Morrowind magicka rules in Oblivion, after dealing with those issues in Morrowind, isn't so bad. Especially since the Atronach sign absorbs 50% of magic attacks, turning it to magicka, but the Breton also gets 50% magic resist. That ends up coming in major clutch late in the game, in the Oblivion Wastes, and Shivering Isles; my most favorite place in Oblivion.

Skyrim: Lizard. I always do a lizard here because they expanded so much on color variation. That and literally every other race's special powers end up useless at some point of achieving overpowered strength, whereas Argonians make it so you don't have to waste time, an enchantment slot, or loadout sorting for fuckin' waterbreathing. No fins. But eh. They did allow for feathers though. So I just make a brown argonian with blue feahers and highlights, an orange nose with mouth, and light dirt to simulate texture and scratches; making the closest thing to a bird person in Elder Scrolls. Technically a hackneyed Archaeopteryx.

To be honest, a big part of the charm of Oblivion is how utterly jank it can be. It's the platonic ideal of a janky Next-Gen video game

It takes a lot of skill to weave a gorgeous character in oblivion, and I'm happy to say I can do it. I have unfortunately had many years of practice.

It gives Oblivion that fantasy charm. I still like playing vanilla Oblivion more than vanilla Skyrim.

I have such rose-tinted glasses for oblivion that to me they look "normal" and it's the skyrim faces that look strange

I love Oblivion's character creator, even if the vanilla NPCs are potato-y. Morrowind's had personality but little diversity. Skyrim's technically had diversity but little personality. Also, not sure if I'm the only one who objects to bearded elves?
