Those tiny little round gold stickers on the pick guard are so clever of Gibson. They kind of put you in mind of a Custom shop job but really it says peel plastic cover from the edge 😀

From ~ 8' to ~ 9'30" the boys are talking about the difference between Alnico 2s, Alnico 3s, and Alnico 5s; they assume that the "hotness" of the pickups steps-up with each number. If I'm not mistaken, actually Alnico 2s are "hotter" than Alnico 3s. In other words, Alnico 3's magnets are the weakest of the three.

Just bought the 50's Standard in tobacco burst. I love it so far. It's a beautiful piece. If you're questioning getting a 2019/2020 Standard, get it!

I like idea of slimmer neck & bourbon burst, but 50's has the sound I prefer.

I boughtvtge 50s Gokdtop. I've waited years to get a proper Les Paul and 2020 was the year. The 50s gas such an open, dynamic tone. Plus the slightly fatter neck is perfect for me.

The 50s has great dynamics pickups. The 60s has same sound all around. It does not clean up on the lower volume. Not my cup of tea

I really think the new LP Standard is what it always should've been.

It is coil splitting, as in splitting the 2 coils of the 'bucker into a single coil. Coil tapping, on the other hand, is actually tapping the same coil at two points of the winding. —Normal setting is the full wound, normal pup sound.

The tap setting takes its tone from wires tapped in at another point with less windings, so a lower output— to get a different color and heat of output from the same pickup. This does not split the coils, unless wired to do so...if that makes sense. It isn't really even a peeve of mine, but i think it would be good for consumers, if there were consistent nomenclature across the board.

The 50’s Standard is like getting a production R9... damn good.

Came into this video wanting to see the Les Pauls and literally 0:33 seconds in I find myself wanting to throw all of the guy on the rights picks on the floor 😂😂😅😅

To me that 19 sounds muddy. 60s bright and crisp. Love the warm natural sound of the 50s

The face is like Perry Bechtel playing the first 14th fret Martin😊

I’m confused. I thought it was in 2019 that the Standard ‘50s and ‘60s and Moderns came out and the old ones were discontinued. I didn’t think there was a 2019 Standard with all the coil tapping and locking tuners and compound neck carve.

50's has a nicer dynamic range for me personally.

So what colours do they do in the 60’s range for Leftys?

They don’t make a 60’s in the Tobacco burst just to correct you, only the 50’s comes in Tobacco
