Is CHOCOLATE TANGHULU worth the hype?

✨Recipe:
Fruit of Choice
2 cups Sugar
1 cup Water
1 tbsp Cocoa Powder

Directions:
1. Skewer your fruit and set aside.
2. In a small saucepan, heat up your sugar, water, and cocoa powder over high heat. Boil until a thermometer reaches 300°F (no less). DO NOT STIR. Once it gets to 300°F, remove from heat immediately, and start dipping and rotating the skewers in the sugar mixture.
3. Best practice is to immediately plunge your coated fruit into ice cold water. Serve immediately and enjoy 😊

Please take this as a compliment. It just dawned on me on why I subscribed to you and keep watching you. You fulfill all of my cooking impulsive thoughts and my chaotic taste buds. And I'm glad to know there is someone chaotic like me hahah

I think it might be possible to do an actual chocolate tanghulu. Chocolate, no matter what type, can burn easily and make it molasses-e. I suggest trying a double boiler just to see what would happen. The chocolate shouldn't burn when it is being cooked in a bowl over boiling water rather than directly over fire. Love your vids and can't wait to see what you make next!
FOR THOSE SAYING THE SUGAR WOULDNT MELT: There could be a method as to where you melt the sugar and chocolate SEPARATELY before mixing it together as the sugar wouldn't melt correctly in a double boiler and the chocolate would burn over open flame.
Instead, melt the sugar regularly, melt the chocolate in a double boiler, and then add them together when doing the tanghulu.
Plus, I never said ANYTHING about adding the sugar to the double boiler. Only the chocolate so it wouldn't burn.
At this point, might as well do a NORMAL tanghulu of sugar and then have a chocolate coating on top so the chocolate and sugar don't mess with each other too much.

I don't like cooking but I do like seeing what happens when you try something new or unexpected, and often times you have a completely random but fun life story to go with it that lets me zone out and just enjoy the whole thing without getting too focused on any of them - it's kinda nice!

I also really appreciate that you aren't some fake Rachel Ray, Martha Stewart type, just a cool Remy doing her thang as best she knows how! And your hair is super cool 😊

The issue here is chocolate and cocoa burn before hard crack stage sugar which is what is used to make tanghulu,
Hard crack: 300-310°F
Cocoa/chocolate burns: 150°F

You could do a suggestion I saw below which was essentially double dipping from chocolate into sugar or vice versa

Make it over a double boiler! 😃 It won’t burn or crystallise. You don’t even need an actual double boiler. Just take a small sauce pot boil a little water get a mixing bowl (glass or porcelain preferably) put it over the water (the bottom of the bowl should not be touching the water) and throw your ingredients in. It’ll take just a bit longer but it’s worth it! You can take the pot off the heat once the water boils, or leave the heat on low. 😁👍🏻❤️
