Sony a7 III - I'm getting it!

I had a photography studio for over 35 years. So for the last 12 years that I was in business I used a 10 mega pixel Nikon D 200. It was not full frame. We did everything with that camera. Weddings, families, children, senior pictures, dance schools and much more. So a 24 mega pixel full frame camera would have been my dream. Oh and I sold a lot of large prints from that camera. I always had the best Nikon lenses that I could buy for it. So I guess what I am saying is I wouldn't be afraid to use a 24 MP camera for portraits. My best advice to anyone was make sure you got it right in the camera first so you didn't have to adjust so much later in Lightroom. All my close up portraits where cropped in camera so very little cropping was needed later. I am thinking about getting this camera but want to see if there are any over heating problems with it.

Millions of people are still using the D750 professionally with a 24mp sensor, so I'm sure the A7III will be just fine for people beyond just hobbyists.

I've been holding off on the A7ii for 6 months, thinking that it was next on the upgrades. This will be my first full frame. A total hobbyist.
I budgeted around $2k for a kit (28-70 f4 or similar), but with the AF eye-detection points, the 10fps, the 4K, I'm amazed by what's on offer, and will be getting this (for around $2k with glass as I'm Iraq).
There are a few hands-on reviews, from respected guys like KaiW, that have convinced me that this is a serious bang for buck camera.
Really looking forward to composing shitty pictures with a better camera.

I’ll preorder it, I’m not a professional but this will be a perfect hybrid camera for me. The fast auto focus for family photos, and video feature for my channel. I’ll miss the 4K/60 on my GH5 tho.

I cannot agree with you. 24mp is still so much, you can crop it by 50% and still have 12mp which is the resolution og a 4k video. As a wedding photographer I rather having the must quantity of AF points and the better AF of the A7III than the 42mp of the RIII. And I shoot a ton of portraits.

5DMK2 owner, GH4 owner, GH5 owner, Sony A7MK1 owner... I think this Sony A7III is finally, finally gonna be the camera that I use to do EVERYTHING !!! The 5DMK2 was that for us, especially when it first came out, then we started chasing the other cameras and technology.. For $2000, the A7III seems like it will be the one !

regarding slow mo, I set up M2 or M1 for slow mo on the click dial. no fiddling. easy on my a7s2

i pre-ordered it. Will go with my A7RIII. It will be a great event and wedding camera at 24megapixel. Folks you should know the A7III has less top metal in the back plate vs the A7RIII, And the mechanical shutter on the A7III is rated for 200, 000 shots whereas the mechanical shutter on the A7RIII is rated for 500, 000 shots. (you can extend that mechanical shutter wear by shooting more with the electronic shutter). NO PC synch on the A7III. So even though i will get one for its great auto-focus points, 6k video capture to 4K and other features, Sony did have to take somethings out of the A7III to get it to $2000 price vs $3200 for the A7RIII. Amazing specs for the price!  But with the lack of inexpensive FF lenses to choose from, I'm sticking with my a6500, a6300 combo for now.  The body is a steal, but to equip it with nice glass is what breaks the bank

I used your Adorama link to pre-order my a7III today. I am so excited and I am glad I waited for the announcement of this camera. Now I just have to figure out how to sell my a7II body.

I orded mine at 11am EST and the G master 24 to 105. I love my GH5 but I know this will serve me better.

Me too and the A7sIII, The megapixel wars are over and I no longer need 42 mp, wish Sony would have put a mRaw option in the A7riii. 24 is the sweet spot and this is a mini A9 for half the price!
Mid entry level my arse!!! It is just as pro as any other camera on the market.

I'm very interested in jumping to the A7 III hoping to get the camera this year, getting back to photography after a hiatus of 2-3 years coming from Nikon as a intermediate hobbyist last camera was an APC Nikon D7000
