Okay, The 'misdirection' clearly indicates that you've put spin on the ball. As such, your opponent has a 50/50 chance of guessing which way the ball will kick. However, if you don't do any misdirection, your opponent may not realize that you've put alot of spin on the ball. It will appear as a normal lob shot. They won't be expecting it to kick in any direction. So no matter which direction to the ball kicks, you win the point. So the bottom line is: be sure to hit the ball below the table and forget the misdirection.
