I bought my first CRKT M16 back in 2005, and I’ve had at least one version of it ever since. I’ve given several of them away to other people (my stepdaughter’s boyfriend, family members who needed and didn’t have one, etc) and always went and bought a replacement within days. I started off with a Tanto point black mini one, but very quickly got into carrying the extra large, double flipper, Tanto point (with Veff serrations) version. It’s not “the best” knife I’ve ever carried, but for the price it certainly is reliable and worth the money. Unfortunately, I lost my current one within the last two weeks, and have to wait for payday to replace it, and it’s driving me nuts because I generally use it several times a day. Grabbing for a pocketknife and having it be one that isn’t your preference kind of sucks! Right now a CRKT CEO lives in my pocket, and since I’m currently awaiting surgery, I’m not out in the woods or anything and a lightweight little slicer tackles everything that I presently encounter- opening packages and fruit, mostly. Anyway- thanks for the review of this box- I only paint and collect Horus Heresy, but I’ll admit that these models look pretty great. Good choice of EDC, and I think you might have convinced me to pick up this box. Enjoy your weekend!

The contents of that box do look pretty dang cool; especially the decals for making custom Space Marine heraldry.

Totally agree on the Labyrinth/Froud look of the models, they have such a rich level of texture. So looking forward to painting them.

You should make mordheim gangs with them 😊

I love these new mini's... I hope they get a good rewrite in the Warcry rules (because the Cities there are dwarves only at the moment), but if not I'm just going to enjoy painting these a lot!

Looking forward to this, really like the new cities look. I also love the decals. Not only do they have all 11 big cities, but also 3 sets of decals for custom cities!

I love little dudes in 40K and AoS. Troops look so cool when you have them all painted up and arrayed in formation.

love this box, the style of the old empire is reflected in this range. Haven't played AOS for a long time, mostly getting this box for the models and some casuals pick up games.

The models look very nice - I don't play AoS but I might just pick these up when they're released separately - they'll make good warbands for a whole host of games by the looks of them.

I *love* this redesign. These are vastly more appealing to me than the prior ranges. That looks like a great box.

With some obvious exceptions, the old Empire range was far too historically derived for my tastes (like the Brettonians).
I have limited interest in/nostalgia for the Old World, but I do wonder if these Freeguild figs will completely overshadow the Empire range from Warhammer: the Old World.

They look a lot more like what I reckon Old World Empire figs should have looked like for decades. More Terry Gilliam "Jabberwocky", or Froud/"Labyrinth".

Do you have an idea how the assembled basic troops look alongside classic Empire figs and things like Frostgrave plastics?

Thanks for the review Ash!

I thought the design was a bit Discworld, but that endears them to me even more!

Ohhh yeah I'm digging the look of the Steelhelms. I know this is probably Warhammer heresy, but the late medieval/ Landsknecht look of the old empire stuff, but the the fantasy kettle helms I can get with. I really like the different body sizes and shapes, like you said people come in a lot of variations and it's nice to see that on the table top.

Can it be? Did GW finally realize people want options back? This could be huge.

Nice to see the level of customization back

Im biased since this is very Oldhammer, but these are some of the finest models GW has put out in many years.
