Appreciate your perspective on the new technology for Harley. The main problem for Harley is, the old school crowd that wants to keep it Old School; if there is no evolution, Harley will not succeed.

I love the look of the sportster s! I understand not having heated grips from the factory but it’s ridiculous that they give you the button regardless of whether the bike has the option installed, that’s just baffling!

If I were looking at that bike I'd also consider the Ducati Monster 1200. About the same price, more power, much lighter & the foot pegs are where they are supposed to be.

I’m seriously looking at swapping my street Bob for the new Sportster. My number one complaint is having to pay more for proper mid controls. I’m just not a fan of forward controls. Number 2 is the balloon front tire, I’m trying to find a replacement that’s lighter and narrower. Three is the need for a longer travel rear shock, hope the aftermarket fixes that.
I’ll agree on the heated grips being standard. When I read their website it reads as if it’s standard. They Need to update the website or start supplying them. Lol.
The small tank is a minor niggle. I’d like a longer range tank but it’s not a big touring bike after all.

I love the water cooled engine. The Vrod, and it variants, were the best thing Harley ever built. To he'll with the air cooled, what century are you guys living in? Low compression, low tech is out. Embrace the new.

Thanks for being honest and pointing out your dislikes, It looks great but can't wait for somebody to give it that true old school Harley sound !

i commend harley for trying to modernize the lineup.the old school guys automatically dont like the newer bikes because their not dipped in chrome, louder than a freight train, or weigh less than 800 lbs.what has kept harley in the dark ages is its core buyers wont buy anything that dont fit the above description, so harley had no choise but to build the same old shit to stay alive as a business.todays younger riders dont want 2 wheeled sherman tanks that make more noise than power.

People have said "That is not a Harley" every time Harley Davidson has changed engine designs. I wonder what engine would they like? Flathead, Knucklehead, Shovelhead or Evolution. Things have to change or Harley Davidson would not be competitive with the other brands. There are some things I do not like about the sportster S. I do like the fact that is being made. I hope it does well. I have sat on one but not ridden one. My biggest problem with it is it is too small for my liking. It was not designed for someone 6'3". The Pan America fits me much better.
The exhaust needs changed for my taste. It does not have to be real loud. It is almost silent.

When I purchased mine it was mine and my salesman’s understanding that the heated grips cam installed, but yes later I read the manual throughly and it does say if equipped

Some additional gripes I have with my Sportster S.
1. The placement of the indicator button, hard to reach intuïtively, often pressing the horn.
2. The placement of the High beam switch. Also a lot of accidental high beam usage.
3. The Software, a lot of work to be done there.
4. The HD-app for smartphone, also a lot of room for improvements. (not really the biks, but it kind of comes with it).
5. The exhaust note on a cold start-up. Very metally banging sound, yuck!
6. The linkage with the forward controls feels very loose and indirect, sometimes it won't shift because of this. (Had it checked by HD, it is what it is.)
7. Rear brake is virtually useless unless stamped on. (Sportster Iron had really great rear brakes)
8. Would've expected a double front brake set-up for this kind of money/Tires/weight.

I have about 3000Km on mine, mostly commuting. Learning to love it more and more, but it certainly has it flaws.

Harley gets premium prices for bikes, in a large way, because the bank they use for financing takes very low credit scores and Harley pays that bank a premium for doing so. Almost anybody can get financed through HD. Used to have a neighbor who was a finance manager for HD.

lower the exhaust where is should be;-- then you can add pillion bars// side casees; along with rear plate for a bag.

I wish you had labeled it 5 things I like and 5 things I dislike about the bike. Hey, how tall are you, I'm 5'10 and hoping this bike will fit me.?? How much did the heated grips cost? Thanks for any info you can provide for my questions, new subscriber, take care.

I just ordered a white one last week. It is about 3-9 weeks out. Can barely wait!

Is it the tech? I like the idea of the Pan Am. But not the tech or looks. The shocks do seem worth taking a look at. Not the adaptive ride height. Wanting to see and demo the Buell Super Touring before I sign up for 6 years of payments. Think 185 hp is too much. I like the older Harley controls with turn signals on left and right controls.

Wow, you must really love this bike, you struggled to come up with anything! I'd say the only real complaint is probably the tank...how many miles can you go on a tankfull? Btw I'm seriously considering getting this bike, but I don't want to give up my 2014 Sportster 1200T, it's such a great bike for day trips...4.5 gallon tank, hard bags, passenger pillion and backrest. But it's not great with cornering due to its low height, scrapes the pegs easily. I want the new S for a little more spirited riding, plus it looks amazing!

the horrid exhaust note is enough for me to hate them. These revo motors have the absolute worst exhaust sound to any engine. my lawnmower sounds better. other then that, they are a awesome bike, but that incredible v twin sound is what people think of when they think of a Harley.

Ya those bikes don’t hold much fuel ⛽️. Unless you get a cvo I don’t think you’ll have heated handgrips. Good video buddy
