COSMIC (Computer Operating System Main Interface Components), I didn't know it stood for that, thanks. I just use Gnome right now, but wonder if this Cosmic desktop will take less system resources yet provide a good UI/UX. I'm sure it concerns people that the Gnome Foundation is having financial trouble lately.

Good touch support is something I look forward to.
Not that I would use an actual touch screen, but I do use a drawing tablet for taking notes.
And being able to operate the entire desktop with such a tablet is very nice to have.
This is why I used to run GNOME on my laptop, but it needed too many extensions with too many breakages to keep working the way I want.
Additionally GNOME's own on screen keyboard, which is forced on authentication popups, is horrendous to use with a drawing tablet.
And as KDE Plasma's overview and panel functionality has since gotten more flexible, it currently works the best in this usecase too for me.
Though I would love to see COSMIC surpass this, also for the sake of having any other option of a desktop that works for me.

Looking forward to playing around with COSMIC the closer it gets to Beta level. Has a ton of potential.

From the looks of it, Cosmic is trying to be the child that would be spawned if GNOME and KDE hooked up, GNOME had a child out of wedlock, and that child looked a lot like it but you could tell that there were bits of KDE in the child's genes.

The one wrong thing here is stating that gnome targets their userbase. No they dont, they target whatever their UX UI designers think how a desktop should be used.

I think Official Ubuntu might switch to cosmic, depending on how stable it turns out
