Cirrus SR22 G7 - Florida Flying - My Worst Landing

Flying in Florida is an experience! It’s definitely busier than where I usually fly, but I loved it and had some learning moments. I even captured my worst landing yet—feel free to roast me, I deserve it!

This flight takes us from Leesburg, FL, up to Jacksonville’s Craig Field. Come along and enjoy the flight!

As always, please remember that this video is not instructional, and I’m not a certified flight instructor (CFI). A significant amount of content has been edited out for brevity. I do my best to follow all checklists and safety protocols.

Thank you for watching!

I was your approach controller that day. Working the Seminole Sector at F11 - Central Florida TRACON. That was a busy, busy session, but all the pilots were on the ball and it made everything so much easier and really enjoyable.

The airport off your left wing during the approach to Craig is our second Navy base here in Jax - Naval Air Station Jacksonville (KNIP). I enjoy your content, thank you for continuing to document your flights.

I may have felt bad of you, but it was better than many I've seen! Thanks for your 2024 videos and I look forward to what you show us in 2025. Happy New Year to you and you family.

Just subbed to this channel and I don't even fly in real life lol

Just a very chill vibe to the videos and informative. Just feels like I'm flying with my boy 🤙🏼

Great job Scott! It always feels worse when you were the one flying but it wasn’t that bad. Your wife didn’t seem bothered by the landing so that tells me it wasn’t as bad as you thought. To continue my arm chair quarterbacking lol, I would have probably dropped 50% flaps as a soon as I realized a slam dunk was imminent(ie. when you were a few miles east of final at 4000) it would have given you a little more time to get composed. The g7s are slippery buggers and with the slower planes in the pattern they may have caused unnecessary distractions. Oh and the “living the dream” controller was AWESOME! Thanks for sharing the journey!

Nicely done both pilot and controller…sounded like a typical day in Florida.😂

I really appreciate your videos. Not doing too much flying as winter IMC conditions have prevailed in MN recently. Not that it’s a substitute for flying, but following along and arm chair flying I feel will help keep me a little more proficient. I need FIKI!

I do most of my flying in Colorado around Denver which can be busy. We spend most of the winter in Florida and the airspace is a whole different level of busy. Normally fly out of North Palm Beach County and it desperately needs a tower, but everyone usually really does there best, but it can be insane.

Good video, Scott. Wouldn’t beat you up for the landing. We’ve all had landings that were rougher than we intended. The only mistake I saw was an extraneous conversation with your passenger just prior to touchdown. I tell those flying with me that it’s a sterile cockpit once we’re in the traffic pattern.

@flying_scott Scott, thoughts are circulating that it is related to a design issue and interference. The static and weak Com 2 was traced to an autopilot servo. That component has been re-engineered and has been incorporated in current deliveries. It may be a Cirrus part repositioning/replacement need.

There is an SB for the static on Com 2. Requires some changes with the AP servos.

Any landing that you can walk away from is a good one! The airplane might disagree but it's a good thing it can't talk lol

With the traffic and ATC instructions being so congested and busy, jeez I didn’t think you did such a bad landed (I do reference some of my, let’s say, ordinary landing 😮😅) 👍
