Congratulations, it is the first video focused on the important things (and not the "cosmetic" things) of this radio. Especially for lovers of the "obsolete"😂 CW mode. Thank you for your time. 73

Great video, John, and very informative. I use my 710 primarily for CW at our beach cottage or for POTA activations. I now have a better understanding of the CW settings thanks to you. Keep 'em coming es 73!

Thanks for the very informative videobro. John! I just got my FT-710 at the Huntsville, AL hamfest and am really impressed with it so far. Your video was a lot of help optimizing the CW settings. We've worked before on 75 and 40 ssb....Hope you are doing well and still preaching the Word! 73 and God bless! Dave WB4NCT

awesome video, Yaesu should give you commissions. I was curious about CW with the 701 and you spelled it all out

I have just started coming on CW using paddles and my FT-710. I had been annoyed by the increase in noise while switching from SSB to CW-L. Using the NAR button as you suggested is helpful in reducing the noise. Thank you. 73 de Jon, VU2JO

Thanks for the info. At least I know how to work the APF, cos my rig only works CW.

Seems a lot easier to tune in with display span narrower?

Maybe now that you owned it a while you can answer some cw operation questions!

. First, does this offer a tx delay and at what steps? tx delay is critical to avoid keyclicks when using an external amplifer.

Second, how is the QSK done. Is it by noisy relay or by reed relay or by diodes? Skipping QSK is like asking Mrs Lincoln if she enjoyed the second half of the play.

Third, is the filter selection wide/med/narrow or just wide and narrow ?

Forth, can the APF (good feature, BTW) be accessed via a one-press button or programmable button?

Only thing I found "new" compared to my nearly 7 year old IC-7300 backup rig is the audio peak filter. But seems like a big hassle to get to that feature, it's probably not gonna be used too much

Generally my impression is this is yet another entry level yaesu rig with sexy lights and screen, perfect for an FT8 or casual SSB operator or someone who wants a TV screen in their shack, but for any serious CW work we are better to find something else, like a used K3 etc.

John, thanks for the great videos. I just unpacked my FT710. I'm having difficulties setting up cw with my bencher paddle. I've been all thru the menus and can only get one side of the paddle to work. Ive changed the cables twice and re checked each connection. I have it set on electric keyer a but racking my brain on what setting I'm missing. Any thought?
thanks

For any setting you need to go into the menue. Hmm..i don´t like it. Also it´s not possible to do QSK..i mean it works, but you getting mad with the Relay klickidiklicki.

Perfect. Thank you. Just about to have a CW Fists Sked at the club shack. There is a 710 there that I haven’t used before so this is extremely helpful. I’ll let you know how I get on 😊
