I was always kind of confused when people said she mentioned her mother too much cus she rlly didn’t imo lmao

She is 14 years old and grieving her mother's death, doesn't always randomly complain to everyone she meets, mentions it when relevant, and tells her friends about it, because it's a part of her past, and friends tell each other these things. The only two times I disagree with what she said was when she, a teenager whi was severely traumatized as a child, screamed at zuko, the former prince of the nation that started a war and commited two genocides, one of which killed her mother, and the person who chased them around the world for three years, betrayed her, and the time she, a child that had to pretty much raise herself and her brother, had screamed at her brother because "He DiDn'T lOvE hEr ThE wAy ShE dId"

“you didn’t love her the way I did” honestly thru the series you could see that Katara thought she loved her mother the most but that line is what made me question Katara’s emotional development she has been thru so much with her brother they cared for each other traveled the world but in a moment of anger Katara talks like that to the only family she has

At first it was funny, by time it's really annoying to see people really hate her just for mentioning her mother.. like wtf she was 8. And we all know sokka always wanted to be a leader and strong like his like father. And he doesn't always open up about feelings that much. Katara was forced to grow up so fast and barely had time to explore her trauma. She even talk about her mother when she wanted to comfort someone before the scene in 2x20 where she and zuko confess about their mother. Common guys..
