Is the 2025 Ford Explorer Active a BETTER midsize SUV than a Nissan Pathfinder SV?

The Explorer not only gets major updates for 2025 from Ford but also a new BAS level trim called Active. On the outside you will discover a new grill, LED lighting, front bumper an 20in wheels. On the inside you will be greeted to a new center console area, 13.2in infotainment screen and 12.3in digital gauge cluster. Under the hood is a 2.3L turbocharged inline-4 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2025 Ford Explorer Active a BETTER midsize SUV than a Nissan Pathfinder SV?

The front fascia change on the Explorer 2025 and new tail lights upgrades the vehicle nicely. The greatest surprise and delight change comes in the new Ford Digital Experience MMI ( goggle based media engine) that replaces the previous SYNC systems. This new interface allows for the navigation feature to be displayed/overlayed into the 12.3 inch productivity screen instrument cluster thus freeing up the center stack screen to display additional multi media functions. It’s a welcome surprise and change. Customers should be pleased.

The $48k price (almost $50k) might be a bit high for a base trim but it looks nice and has some nice features, probably should have wireless charging and ventilated seats for that price tag. But it really looks nice and no doubt it beats a Nissan Pathfinder.

I feel a high level of quality that I don't expect from an entry-level trim. The face design doesn't overemphasize the car's strength and expresses the sincereness, and I really like this new Explorer.

A great looking Perfect trim for me. USA for the comedy Joe. PS: I'm OK with the prop rod for the hood as I know one thing for, sure you'll NEVER have to replace hood struts...lol. Cheers !

Very impressive for an entry level trim. 5.5 sec 0-60 is nothing to sneeze at. I bet these sell as fast as Ford can build them.

Joe, seeing this trim has me thinking pretty much because how much it looks like the police version. Have you ever thought thought about reviewing police versions? I think it would be very interesting and fun to do a comparison between the Explorer and Tahoe police spec versions.
