I didn't read it as Fugetsu being "cursed." I read it as being Fugetsu is increadibly weakened and the evil spirits showing up are just something that happens to anyone whose aura is so weakened. Like moths being attracted to a flame.

I did my re-read of the whole arc last week and Yokotani had a little exchange with another member before his power was revealed where he is asked if the first princes guards came for them would they be breaking the law in any way. Yokotani said no. So Kakin's highest military must operate above the law that Yokotani's entire ability is based on. It begins to feel like such a backwards ability for a criminal to possess. The people who the Heil-ly are trying to destroy designed the system his Hatsu is dependent on.

I do wonder if the issue with Fugetsu could involve Leorio in some way. Sure He's not a "nen exorcist" but he's evolved his nen ability in a way to help with his objective of being a doctor. I could see him being able to adapt/evolve his nen into that of an exorcist as well if his mission is to save as many lives as possible, then it would make sense that he would also want the power to save nen users. Especially after what he saw with Gon, it would not surprise me if he had started to practice a means to adapting his nen to save nen users from curses.

That’s an interesting situation. I wonder if there’s a new category of nen that can only be used by “dead people”. Meaning that a person that had his life force ended but still alive (like Gon and Hisoka) could have different abilities that go beyond the ones we understand.

My first thought was that it's caused by Fugetsu leaving the ship, and that Melody calling off their plan because she thinks a prince is messing with them due to that will be part of fugetsu's tragedy.
