Let's get one thing straight, in this movie, Dar Salim stole the spotlight, starting with the first burn "Actually, I am here to interpret".

Quite incredible. One of a few great movies. In parts utterly terrifying, in other incredibly moving considering the subject matter. Very much enjoyed and superb casting. I had no idea to what lengths their pursuers would pursue with such purpose. Thank you.

As an action, this movie is very good.
As its veracity is concerned, it sinks pretty close to the bottom.
The only few things that can be considered true are the fact that the US Army - or any Army for that matter - would easily take advantage of and then just leave people behind who are not their own countrymen, and that the Institutions in the USA - or in any western country for that matter - would not be willing to help those who were disregarded by their Army.
The things mentioned and pictured in regard of the Taliban are probably very true.
Another thing that crossed my eyes was the big physical difference between the actor Ahmed and the real person Ahmed (as he was shown at the end of the movie). The actor could have performed all those things - such as carrying a full equipped US soldier, pushing and pulling a heavy wooden cart, walking for weeks with almost no food and strangling strong enemies, but a slim person like the real Ahmed was could have never done all that.
So, I personally only pay attention to the point of the movie, because most of the action in it is James Bond or Rambo - like, ergo not possible.
EDIT:
It also crossed my mind that according to their names, the two main characters actually stand for the highest representatives of their respective countries. The name of Ahmed means HIGHLY PRAISED and is almost an equivalent to the highest name in Islam, Mohammad. The name of Kinley is the same as of the highest peak in North America (McKinley) which is on the Mountain that bears the Koyukon name of Deenaalee, which again means 'The High One'. All that may mean that the highest representatives of Afghanistan did their best, and the highest representatives of the USA simply let them down (which, btw. is not just a possible interpretation, but a solid fact).

You know with only 30 minutes to go - it's Rambo all the way. And as it states at the end 'more than 300 interpreters and their families have been murdered by the taliban for collaborating with the US Military. Thousands are still missing.' So why not just send this guy in for a happy all round ending?

The script is somewhat stilted to say the least. And the plot simply can't help giving itself away at every turn. It's as though Ritchie doesn't trust the intelligence of his audience - or worse, himself.

The film is dominated by mood music throughout - which forced me to mute through the 'cart pulling' scene: surely the average human can recognise setting and it's emotion?

I get the feeling contemporary directors lack imagination and creativity. Perhaps they are saddled by finance and politics?

Is this film good news for the the film consuming market and Ritchie, or is there a howling deficit blowing right through the middle that can't deal with the horrendous fallout of that campaign?

Essentially this is standard military fare. And the cliché body count piles up like the corpses of the taliban - not dissimilar to German soldiers in WW2 films or the American Indian in those cardboard Westerns.

The balance on that point alone tips badly against the film's message - whatever it is trying to sell.
