Where there's light...

Here it is folks, my first serious animation. Starring everyone's favourite Edgy Hedgy.

This wouldn't have been possible without my amazing cast.

I like how Gerald sees shadow as just his ultimate creation to save Maria at first, but Maria saw him as a person. Then in the audio log Gerald sees shadow as a person as well. It shows how Gerald grew to love shadow as his son.

This is the REAL Shadow, yes he may look harsh and is very blunt at times, but in reality he's a caring soul who helps all those who need it. His motivation is a promise that he'll keep no matter what.

Shadow has definitely been through a lot in his life, this video proves that he’s a hero, like Sonic. Setting his differences aside and protect the planet that Gerald Robotnik and Maria wanted him to do because he was created to do just that. Losing Maria just broke him and Gerald took advantage of it, but I wonder if Gerald really wanted Shadow to stop him from enacting his revenge, because Shadow had a part of Maria’s Soul within him. Although he lost one family, he has a new one within Team Dark, and he wouldn’t have it any other way, such a great video dude

Damn, that hurts. Had a cat named Shadow which my mom named for the same reason, followed her everywhere. He's been gone for about 7 years now, but now I remember why Shadow is my favorite character, not any edgy bs, not even his story really, just the demeanor and the name, keeps to himself, sometimes pushes others away, yet always cares weather he shows it or not. As cool as he may be, really he just reminds me of my cat.

I think it's underrated how Gerald's message matches up 1:1 with Amy's animation, as if she's unknowingly repeating what he said back to Shadow to remind him what he fights for.

The best description I've heard about Shadow yet, is that he's the Batman of the Sonic Universe. He's blunt but not cruel, Cold yet caring, quiet but Heroic. Shadow is the emotional core of what a quiet hero is and thats why he's so special

“Where there’s light, there’s Shadow.” That is such a Perfect quote for Gerald to describe Shadow. I can’t help but think of Sonic as the light in many cases and of course Shadow as the Shadow. This is Really well done!

Coming back here after Shadow Generations, I would love it to be true if SEGA or Ian Flynn confirmed that this video is where they got the inspiration for the cutscene that confirms Maria gave Shadow his name. If it is true, then this video aged well.

This was so beautiful. I knew it would be. I was rly looking forward to this animation. And I was moved just like I thought I'd be. It's such an honor to voice for you Pixel.

Well, that was certainly something...something amazing in fact. Extremely well done. The dialogue was absolutely fantastically written and delivered, and the animation was likewise good if not even better. Very much a different look at Shadow the character than some other animations that involve him. Because Shadow's whole thing was never "my edge is so sharp it will cut you" just that he was the "ultimate lifeform" and functioned accordingly.

Also, the closing shot with the moon was pretty raw, especially following the "-There's Shadow" delivery.

I adore the subversion of the line 'where there is light, there is also Shadow'. It really demonstrates who he is as a character wonderfully: Despite his name, he's not the opposite of light. He is an extension of it. Because even if he seems cold and edgy, he always does what he thinks is right. And that's what makes his character so beloved, I think.
