As an officer of a state police agency that has assisted with secret service details for the last three presidents I can say that the idea that a building with direct line of sight within a few hundred meters would be left uncovered is beyond comprehension. We closed entire interstates just because an asset was traveling near it, not on it mind you.

Also if we are to take the statement of that officer at face value, I believe he absolutely did what he should have. Ideally he is aware of the ladder and can use that to engage but calling it out on tac channel should have been enough.
