-- Vagus Nerve Massage For Stress And Anxiety Relief --

A few months ago, I noticed something weird:

My ears were tight.

You probably don’t think of your ears as a place where you’d find muscle tension, but actually you have muscles all over your face and head.

And when your sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight branch) is activated, it can cause your neck and facial muscles to tense up (along with other muscles in your body).

Fortunately, there is an easy way to relax this muscle tension with a natural stress management technique designed to target vagus nerve massage points in your ear.

The vagus nerve is your main parasympathetic nerve responsible for the “rest and digest” functions in your body, as well as your ability to feel joy and connection to other people.

And it has a branch that just happens to extend into your ear where you can massage it for stress and anxiety relief.

Interestingly, when I tried this vagus nerve massage technique, not only did my ears relax but my TMJ resolved too!

I have always been a teeth grinder when I’m under stress. Dentists keep recommending those guard things to prevent teeth grinding -- but they really don’t stop you from clenching your jaw.

They just prevent tooth damage from the grinding. And many people grind right through the tooth guards in a matter of months!

It’s helpful to resolve the underlying cause of tooth grinding with natural stress management techniques. We can do this by shifting your nervous system into a parasympathetic or relaxation state.

And that’s exactly what this vagus nerve massage is designed to do -- help you relieve stress and anxiety by directly stimulating and activating the primary nerve of your parasympathetic nervous system.

Vagus nerve massage benefits don’t just include TMJ relief -- you may also experience headache relief, better neck mobility, deeper breathing, improved digestive health and a general sense of relaxation and well-being.

*To anybody who's reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind. May clarity replace confusion. May peace and calmness fill your life. *

EDIT: Wow, I wrote this comment 3 years ago and cannot believe lots of people would relate. Thank you and sending love and healing to you all all.
Also wanted to share in case it may help someone: as a way to cope and function better now, I wear loop earplugs. I can no longer tolerate yelling and have become sound sensitive, easily overstimulated when there's lots going on around me so I wear the loop earplugs which help me ground and focus on the task, the conversation at hand.

I am so grateful for you and this video 🙏❤ As a child, I used to "play" with my ears a lot, it was very soothing and I would do it after getting yelled at, as I cried or when I got scared of my dad - which was almost everyday. I look back at the little girl who was constantly scared and hurt, and realize how she did her best to soothe herself and her body - regardless of people calling her weird for doing it. Im crying writing this cause Im overwhelmed... and I am grateful to be able to heal and get better at the same time 😭🙏❤

Wow! I had been in horrific anxiety for 5 days and I did this and it stopped. I was ready to go to the ER then I found this video. I am forever grateful. I have shared this video with others who have had excellent results in relief of anxiety. This is a complete life saver. Anxiety is hellish. Again I am so, so grateful!

I have been suffering from anxiety and panic disorder, from being a police officer for 23 years. My anxiety can creep up on me and suddenly I’m in a full blown anxiety attack. Watching this video and the one prior to this, made me realize that I’m not crazy, when people say, “what do you have to be anxious about, you’re retired…” It seems that it’s a program running in the background and that’s what I need to work on. Doing these exercises helped me to calm down just now, while having an attack. I pledge to myself, that I will work on this, watch and do the exercises here, and see how it will eventually stop the anxiety completely. Thank you so much for what you do, to help people.

As a child who worried a lot, I often rubbed inside my ear with my finger and rubbed my thumbs around each other. It’s fascinating how your body must instinctively know what you need to do to calm yourself!

Psilocybin saved my life. I was addicted to heroin for 15 years and after Psilocybin treatment I will be 3 years clean in September. I have zero cravings. This is something that truly needs to be more broadly used in addiction treatment.

I was placed on hospice care three weeks ago after 5 years of cancer. My anxiety level spiked significantly. Going to incorporate this technique in my self-care routine and hope to stay away from yet another medication. Thank you so very much! 🕊

Wow 30 mins ago I went into a full blown panic attack, my heart racing, shaky, sweaty, etc. I felt like going to the hospital but I thought I would try a few things first. So I found some different suggestions on the internet of corse all different breathing exercises, which helped just a little bit. I came across this video which was something I have never heard of and thought I will give it a try. I am absolutely impressed. Honestly I can't believe it. I am starting to think " was I really having a panic attack?" I have never recovered from a panic attack this quickly. It is hard to believe that a little over 30 mins ago I was ready to go to the hospital and now I am completely back to myself. WTF!! AWESOME

As a massage therapist or 25 years, I found that many clients particularly enjoyed ear massage, but I didn’t realize why, never having made the connection to the vagus nerve. Thank you!

I did this last night in bed before falling asleep and I came back here to say I honestly had the best sleep I’ve had in a long time. I’m 34 weeks pregnant so it’s a bit harder than usual to get a good nights rest, the couple of times I did wake up I fell straight back asleep and have not felt so calm in ages. I woke up feeling amazing! Thank you so much

I have had trouble yawning for 2 days and my resting heart rate laying in bed was 101. My sister told me it was probably my vagus nerve. Researching a resolution, i found your video and I'm absolutely grateful to you. I first tried your video about moving your eyes and I fellt so calm doing it. Then i tried this one. Pushing the skin behind my ears made me burst into tears. My husband was watching and looked concerned. I told him I have no clue why I was crying. But it was so relieving to me. The yawning issue was so much less today and my heart rate has gone down. I'm going to keep trying this as I feel it has helped so much. Thank you!!

I've dealt with severe issues from benzo/ssri wd/damage for the past 5 yrs and the past 2 weeks have been hell on earth from anxiety and panic. My body was so exhausted. I did the ear things for 3 mins and I literally feel safe and calm for the first time in weeks. Thank you
