Claiming something is easy isn’t fair. Welding just like anything else is difficult to some extent to perform. The difference is when you get the practice down it’s the same thing just different environment. Same movement same setup. Machining the welds or brand knew parts are a completely different story. Especially working in a job shop environment. Sure your feeds and speeds are gonna be relatively the same based on material, but you have different parts, different tools and different program if your running a cnc. Sadly the difference is the job market pays welders more then people who keep a tolerance of .0005. The people who make the all the parts that make the world turn and make the parts that welders weld on and the equipment they weld with.

Try welding 24 in. Pipe with 18 in. Off the ground in mud.
You earn your money.

Its a low skill job until a weld breaks and causes an environmental hazard or death.
Then everyone looses there shit.
Seriously, welding keeps the modern age moving. When was the last time a mechanic or carpenter had to stamp their work in steel and stand by it....with fines and job sacking pending.
Welding is like a black hole....the more you learn about the feild, the more you relize just how technical it can be.

Mechanics talk bad about welders, but most of there welds are literally bird shit. They take a weld test in school...literally just running padding in case of repair. (In the flat)
Then they think they are amazing.

Best way to get respect.
Be a welder that keeps Mechanics tools in your shop and fix your own machines.
Machinests are another group of individuals that dont get enough respect in my opinion.
Most people think they just make nuts and bolts,
But they do so much more.
Every trade has a role to play.
Welding is just one that scars you for life.
