I’m really glad you made this video. I feel like the holidays are the most important time of the year to discuss minimalism, waste and intentional spending and gift giving. I feel like most people who don’t pursue minimalism find this time of the year overwhelming and stressful. I feel our society would benefit if we all did a little less this time of the year.

Something my family is going to try out this year, now that our oldest is 5yo and can participate in the process, is placing old toys under the tree for Santa to give away to other children. Kind of like an exchange. This will be especailly helpful since grandparents insist on giving tons of presents anyway (it's their love language, as you mentioned). Favorite Christmas movie: Die Hard. Why? Because it's my husband's favorite movie and I love watching his face light up as he watches it.

True. There's so much pressure and wall to wall ads, pushing $1, 500 mobile phones, smart watches and similar. My brother has all the latest gadgets and the biggest TV I have ever seen. More = more complicated life = more hassle. Love being minimalist, my family knows me.

I love this! I have been so intentional this year and it feels so good!! Last year, my mother-in-law bought us a $160 karaoke machine that we only used on Christmas and then got rid of a few months later. She loves to give gifts so this year we helped her out and told her we wanted zoo passes and I'm so excited! No clutter and experiences!

Every year in November my kids got rid of old toys, clothing, and books and donated it to Agape House in our area. I was always touched at how they wanted to do it. They enjoyed there new toys in December. They also wanted to do a garage sale after school was out for summer. They got rid of more stuff and I doubled the money that they made at the garage sale and then they would use that money to buy something else that they wanted. My kids had so much fun during the garage sales.

I don't consider myself a minimalist at all, but one of the best things I've ever done is to make reusable fabric gift bags. I love being able to reuse them, love how easy they are to use, and enjoy making them!
