How Does Time Dilation Work?

In simpler terms, time can slow down or speed up depending on how fast an object is moving or how strong the gravitational field is around it. For example, time moves slightly slower on the surface of Earth than it does in space.

In the movie "Interstellar," we saw an extreme example of time dilation when the crew traveled near a supermassive black hole.
Due to the intense gravity, time moved much slower for them than it did for people on Earth. When they returned, they had aged much less than the people they left behind.

This is probably a dumb question, but I’ll ask anyway. Is this why we are finding that the universe may be older than 13 billion years? Is it 13 billion years old only according to us on earth but it may be shorter or older to objects that have more mass or speed? This is a genuine question please don’t just tell me I’m an idiot I already know that I’m just trying to learn more, this is such a mind bending think to ponder to a simpleton like me

Gravity slows the speed of cause and effect by creating resisting forces in the form of opposing acceleration, increasing the distance light and pure energy have to travel to affect anything. This slows allcausal processes, including biological aging and motion itself.

Likewise, moving faster also helps you "run-away" from causality. The faster you go, the harder it is for cause and effect to "get" you and cause aging.

I and another person start at the same place.
If i travel at 96% of the speed of light i would be in this logic younger tham him at the same age i started when i stop.
But relatively to me he travelled at 96% of the speed of light and so he is younger.
Then who is actually younger?

Einstein’s Relativity is straight-up flat Earth science. Acceleration in space does not equate to deceleration in time.
