I don't think the ground is accelerating upwards rather we are all still falling and the ground is blocking us from falling further.

I had the same problem vut i think what they mean by that curve is 4D spacetime and the only way to show is in 2D and the 2D sheet basically tells that's the only way for any object to travel gravity or no gravity the curve would coz the same motion.
