At the turn of the 20th Century, a discovery radically shattered our previous understanding of relativity. Time is no longer absolute, but relative. But what is time dilation?

I can't think of a worse way to explain these concepts to ordinary people.

A husband waiting for his wife shopping feels a very long time when she feel only few minutes. Real time dilation.

all I know is 30 minutes getting ready for work goes by like 5 minutes, but 8 hours at work feels like 2 days long.

Time dilation is one of my favorite topics in science if not my favorite. Gravitational time dilation made my brain click when i first heard about it.

I just ended up with more questions and making my life more complicated 🙃

When you wake up on a Sunday thinking it's Monday. You then go to sleep for another forty five hours which feels like 30 minutes. If that is not time dilation I don't know what is.

According to Einstein you can jump into the past and save the life of the already dead

Using a metric rule and the light, according to Einstein, with respect to the station, a time dilated by range, or slowed by range, flows on the train.

When the train enters the station. and before the same train abandons him, the bartender of the station bar shoots a station cleaner and kills him.

At this point the station master, near the passing train, jumps on the train and consequently finds himself in the past (I repeat, according to Einstein, because a slowed-down time is flowing on the train).

From the past in which he finds himself, the station master shoots an instant before the bartender does, killing the latter and thus absurdly saving the life of the cleaner who is actually already dead for a while.

Special Relativity contradicts the 2nd law of thermodynamics. It is therefore false.

Einstein was a great man, Thank You for sharing this information, I read or saw somewhere that at the speed of light, time stops, that's very interesting.

Inmates are the best people who can explain time dilation.

The 'passage of time' is absolute in all frames: no magic allowed, only physics, and different semantics: In time dilation, time does not slow down, if it even exists at all. Time delation is nothing else but the rate of aging of matter (i.e. elementary particles having to bridge more space to interact) at different speeds. This includes light clocks, communication satellites...and organisms like us!

What would happen if we facetimed someone on a planet like the 1 hour to 7 years planet on interstellar? Would one side see the other standing still while the other moving super fast?
