I find it funny because nowadays they arrest serial killers but up until the 1800’s they’d just give them a ship and tell them to bother the Spanish.

In answer to that last question, probably. Obviously there is no interest in doing anything like that given how good my life is by comparison, but had I grown up and pressed into service on a naval ship I’d probably take the option that pays more and offers more freedom, it’s not like the people that became pirates were gambling with a decent existence they were poor and already dealing with terrible living conditions.

We need to make a return in the whole “pirate republic” way of running things. think about it! How’s a better time then ever; global trade is up, people aren’t expecting pirates to steal their stuff, some people import and export so much stuff nowadays that you can build a villiage purely from the stuff found in goods freighters.

Honestly I’m shock that no one outside of the Indian Ocean has ever really thought of this.
