Another great vid on an important topic a lot of tradesmen don't do very well; I see some pretty sketchy stuff on the highway every day.

A weatherproof tread tape or sand in the paint on the top surface of your carrier crossmembers can also go a long way in preventing slippery stock from sliding around.
You just need to make sure it's strapped down well, in addition to that friction enhancer of course.

I will also sometimes put a few big C-clamps around the crossmember and clamped onto the stack to further prevent sliding.

Keep 'em coming Doc! Your vids are becoming part of my morning breakfast routine.

I worked construction for 41 years in plumbing and piping and can appreciate what you mean about securing loads. Good ideas and tips here. Insurance liability is back seat to injuring someone with your load. I would have felt terrible had I ever lost a load and injured someone. We hauled bottles of oxygen and acetylene as well and I still cringe when I see some people and how they haul those with gauges attached to the bottles. I did loose a load of 1 by 6 tongue and groove pine boards on my personal truck because it slid of the back of the truck at a lite when I took off. So I know how that feels to be embarrassed and have to pick it all up with traffic going by. No one was hurt thankfully

One time at band camp I lost a ladder during a sudden stop and it shot off the top and picked up speed due to the rivets. I think it was doing about 35mph, oh yeah
