I am a big Geely Fan, (alough I drive an MG4). I often joke that is makes more sense to go from a whitegoods manufacturer to an EV manufacture than it does a traditional automaker, although Geely already made ICEV before the swap. What is an EV but electric motors and an air conditioning based cooling system? Geely partnering with CATL was the last piece they needed to put them at the forefront of EV manufacturing. If BYD is the new Toyota, Geely is the new Volkswagen.

I can appreciate the push for EV's in China, especially recognizing how China matches their infrastructure with their future vision. This is something the west fails to appreciate

We are going top trade in our old Mercedes for an EV very soon. We will get about 18000 yuan for the old car. The car will probably be car may be Zeekr or Xpeng. We tried a Model Y -- not a bad car but the interior looks very cheap and the price is high. You can't even use FSD in China and, when and if you can, they want an absurd price for it.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the EV world, Hertz posted a $2B loss caused mostly by high repair costs and depreciation of their EV fleet, Ford is losing $38, 250 on every EV they sell, Chevy Bolt EV's are being recalled due to fire risks and owners are advised not to charge overnight and to park out on the street, not in their home garage , Tesla Cybertruck is having their sixth recall this year, Tesla cuts 10% of their workforce and are slashing prices again due to stalling demand, and Bentley has pushed back their all EV plan from 2030 to 2035..

It's a bit scary to think my grandmother was born before cars were invented! It was horses and carts! We have created a world around cars, not sure why?

Fastest growing (if you don't take into account that BYD sells way more thus mentioning the YoY percentage of growth isn't quite correct) isn't Geely but Chery which grew 39.74% while Geely only grew by 28.64%.

Chery sold 1, 916, 290 up to the end of October while Geely only sold 1, 768, 807.

I think the Geely Geome Xingyuan has the potential to become something like the VW Beetle, the Citroen 2 CV or the Renault R4. Nothing crazy, but a car that covers the basic needs of those who are not car fanatics, and hopefully at a reasonable price.
