Artists from across the nation, both seasoned and novice, converge on iconic locations to capture their essence on canvas. While episode winners progress to subsequent rounds, up to 50 wildcard artists per location also hope to dazzle the judges. Their aim? A coveted spot in the grand final and the title of Landscape Artist of the Year.

Uuuggghhh ... I thought Lucy's painting was awful, but you could tell from the way the judges gushed over her submission that they wanted her to go through!

Lucy is not worthy of moving on. ANNE should have moved on! I know who the eventual winner of this season is and she certainly didn’t deserve it either.

Modern art (whatever that is) is STUPID if it is not beautiful (and sometimes The essence of artistic creativity is BEAUTY. We can desire to be snobbish and say that it is not or perhaps desire to continue down into a muddy, ugly, uninteresting mess - but that is not art. As an abstract artist (most of the time), I maintain that art that looks beautiful can still be abstract. Interesting and beautiful go hand in hand. Who wants to have ugly art?! Beauty and meaning and truth also go together - and in art as well. Playfulness, beauty and colour and black and white, all go together. To be an artist has as its essence - romance!! And whether inside or outside, we see, and desire to see interest and beauty. I live in a slum and see beauty in the slumish surrounds - an incredible level of interest in the extremely interesting homes and people and just neighbourhood that surrounds me (and has for the last 34 years). In many ways it is far more interesting - and in some ways also more beautiful than in the middle class housing estates that are not far away. But an artist should be able to find beauty, and interest, everywhere and anywhere they go - almost. Perhaps there are prisons....blackened rooms - no light - that have no interest, no beauty,

Lucy’s painting is good but to me it’s not really landscape. This is the episode when I lost interest in the series. The judging is just too arbitrary.

I’m sorry but Lucy’s should absolutely not be top 3. They need to start being realistic in their judging. If it’s ridiculous and horrible, it’s liable to make top 3? All the paintings deserved top 3 above Lucy’s. I’m sure she’s capable of much more but the judges need to stop judging if this is how they pick. I almost can’t take this show seriously anymore

I play a game to figure out who will at least get short listed. I pick the ugliest painting and say "that one". I am rarely wrong.

I was not impressed with Lucy's painting and I felt that Anne should have moved on.
