I should have watched this ages ago! I never realised that there was a scroll-bar to the right of the light settings so that I could also specify camera settings explicitly. I blame the poor UI design...😉 Thanks for this and your many other videos.

I don't know how Studio has changed since this was recorded, but if doing a single render I find that I can still work in Studio while a render is in progress without using the Queue function, since Studio exports the design to the renderer at the start of the process and I can then work on other things.

The only problem I have with the queue is that it does not always render correctly if I have standard bricks with custom stickers that I have applied in Brick Designer. The renderer sometimes throws randomly located bricks into the final image, unrelated to the parts with stickers, hence I tend to do only one rendering at a time, and then it's never an issue.

Very usefull tutorial. I'm one of these older AFOLS that has been using LDD for a very long time, to have a nice image I use Pov ray and to create a instruction i used Blueprint. I've build lots of stuff on LDD (even a large Sandcrawler with full interior) polyprojects on Rebrickable...but i always came into problems in some way using LDD or the other programs.
So I've made up my mind a start creating things in STUDIO. As far as I've seen your tutorials this program is putting all the programs I used to use all in one big machine with lots of more options.
I was really frightened to use studio as I'm soooo used to use LDD. As far as i can see now i'll have to learn but i'm not starting from scratch.
Thanks a lot for these video's, they have been very helpfull. Cheers Paul

Thanks very much for this very helpful guide, as a newbie (Expert from Lego Digital Designer) I tested the different rendering settings myself. I just don't understand why the rendering eyesight preview (while building up the rendering image) looks different as to the final output file? In my case, the rendering image looked brighter with most of the Lego studs on the baseplates rendering visible but on the final output render it didn't show the same studs as the render preview unless in the shade as if at the very end of the image the renderer applies a filter/brightens up the image. As a workaround I Used the "Dawn" render setting to get the best results as a .png file then fixed & recoloured the output render in Photoshop. Secondly I don't really get why only some "Background & Light" settings (i.e work some only with "Transparent" background. Wouldn't it be more useful if all those different types of light preset options all work with "Solid Colour" or "Transparent" backgrounds for if you wanted a background or not without being dependant on which of those rendering light types that is used for rendeing? Again much thanks for these Studio Tutorial videos :).

Thanks. When I pick presets, I only have "Building" and "Mechanic". I tried update studio but still only two options. How do I enable the other modes?

Thanks for this, going to have to set aside some time to watch it on a bigger screen (instead of my phone 😆).

Hi, i'm searching for a recomendation about the realistic rendering.

Well, there is different type of paints for the bricks, but, I have a problem with the regular one, the common plástic ones.

Basically, they look to shinny, in a way that they reflect the lights and other bricks in themself in a way that looks not only pretty ugly, but unrealistic for that type of pieces.

I think I Will need to use the UV or Scratches to fin that, but that's my question then..

¿How can i make the regular plastic pieces more realistic and also less shinny in a mirror way?

Also, sorry if is not too well right writting, i'm from Argentina and not a English Speaker.

I cannot find all the lighting options in the photorealistic mode. I only see Building and Mechanic, I dont see asteroid, dawn etc....

I've been using Studio 2.0 for a bit, but i am curious, is there a way to send renders to a render farm? I'm often doing it from a laptop so a lot of the times to get a really good image, it takes about a day to complete.

I'm using the last version and y don't have the cpu or gpu option, and i have an amd apu, with integrated graphics, so it takes me a while, but I'm going to build me a pc for my renders and some games, but I'd like to know if the photoreal render uses the cpu or the gpu because that will make me choose my hardware for my future pc, pls help

Question for you when I'm rendering: during rendering, the quality of the model looks great, but when I get the finished image, whether it's a jpg or png, it will look much more pixelated than the live render did. I'm choosing Very High as my quality. Would you know what the reason for that is?

If I use the transparent option it stays a solid black background, and I'm unable to put the model on another picture. What do I do wrong ?

Any tips on how to deal with metallic colors? Because the way studio renders them is... not good

Thank you for this nice tutorial. Unfortunately I do not have the possibility to select between CPU and GPU. Do I need to install any other Plugin or something likewise? My Stud.IO Version is 2.1.4 (2) *Edit:* It seems to work only on NVIDIA graphics card - sorry bothering you

I noticed in Asteroid lighting I get a reflection of a cathedral on some of my bricks, and similar problems happen in all but mechanical lighting. What is with that? It's a total pain to photoshop it out.

Oh, and anyone notice some odd lines appearing on minifigure heads? Like there's a join when photoreal rendering?

What version do you use sir? Why in my version don't have any CPU and GPU option?
