Bees Are Fish Now, I Guess? | California Court Ruling

A California court ruled that bees can be classified as fish under a state endangered species law. The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, the Center for Food Safety, and the Defenders of Wildlife were represented by the Stanford Environmental Law Journal led the charge. The groups found a legal definition in California law that lumped bees in with fish under the invertebrate classification. Of course, this only means bees are fish legally, not biologically.

Probably all proud of themselves for finding that loophole when 99% of people are just like "bruh.. They're not fish"

Like many court decisions, people started with the conclusion they wanted and then used anything to support it. Common sense would say that the invertebrates that were meant to be protected under the fish definition were things like crayfish and urchins. If you stretch it to cover bees, you’re illustrating how we end up with unintended consequences. At least this isn’t something disastrous- yet.

If a fish feels he/she/they is a bee inside then we should all support their life decisions.
