Good points. Engaging in comments is a good way to build atmosphere around content. The channel can set the mood by moderating comments. Just the usual community moderation can help. We can block bad people, report nasty comments, respond to good comments and the atmosphere will be a lot nicer for the people who take time to watch the videos.

Brilliant advice! I am still pretty small as a YouTuber so thankfully at present I can always reply to all my subs, but if one day, hopefully, I do end up having millions of sub I will definitely do what you do!
