Man ... imagine playing a game against Pia, in a tournament, and after the game having Pia saying you played beautiful chess ... he just won the best chess compliment ever!

There’s that moment where he realizes he’s in trouble but I love that he asked questions of your mom and she was so gracious in her teaching. Fantastic battle of the generations.

Watching Pia's gentle disposition, meanwhile mercilessly slaughtering her way through a game, never fails to warm the heart.

Pia is so polite, she's always a bit sorry that she just crushed your soul at chess.

Damn!!! He pushed a Grandmaster. That guys a good player and looked quite young. Anna's smile though just floors me

Your mom's demeanour is so beautiful; so humble and kind. It was beautiful to watch her.

Love when players talk strategy after. Shows the camradery in the game as well as what a real winner and a graceful looser look like.

Can we just take one second to appreicate these two great souls- Pia is calm and gentle all the time while Ethan is humble and polite (and cute too). Such a pleasure to watch

Watching this guy he was killing it. Hearing his ratings at the end made a lot of sense. But going toe to toe with a GM ain't easy, that's for sure. Good fight

I love the way your mum encourages him and gives him props at the beginning. I love her gentle body language throughout play…there was no slapping the timer or aggressively knocking over pieces. Fantastic and humble demeanor for someone so talented. The young man put up a great fight! I wish my Da had lived to be able to see great chess content like this! He would’ve loved it so much!

I imagine Pia was delighted for Ethan to give her so much difficulty, and still turn it all around in her favour in the end. GG Ethan, you made her work for it.

Watching Anna in the background makes me smile. I have two daughters her age, and they both love their mum with this same intensity.

I know absolutely nothing about chess but I love these videos. Everyone that plays is very respectful of each other. Really great to watch.

My favourite part of this post is not the playing or the conversation.
It is the smile on your face that signifies your love and pride for your mother.
All the very best for you both.

Both were so kind and respectful to each other start to finish, it's great to see.

Losing to Pia is still one of the best moments of a person's life, she is such a warm and beautiful soul.
