They need to make a movie about these women, what a blessing to be educated about this!

My grandfather was born in the same year as Mrs. Garcia. He, too, fought in WW2 and never talked about it much. He was Black American, and the small stories he told was heartbreaking. Black soldiers were not treated very well in the military. Then he fought in Japan only to return to the segregated. He didn’t get voting rights until well in his 50s. Think about that! And for those who say the Confederate flag is part of their heritage. It’s part of mine too in many ways. My grandfather, along with surviving Black veterans, would March at the state capital on MLK day to remove the that flag from the capital building. All those old men died never seeing that flag removed. I lived to see it, though. My grandfather is my hero. He loved everyone regardless if they loved him back.

I've never ever heard about these women, much less taught about them. I love WWII history and want to know more about them.

What a beautiful story. Mrs. Garcia, I love you and thank you for your service. My aunt, CPT Mary F. Kearney (from CT) was one of the commanding officers of the WW2 - 6888. All these very special ladies served our country will grace and honor despite segregated conditions.

Another great segment by David Begnaud and his team. Mrs. Garcia and her granddaughter, Tara are a delight. Although underappreciated in both World Wars, many segregated service members served with honor and some with distinction. They are fully deserving of some belated recognition and gratitude. Well done!

This is amazing! I love hearing this. My Mom is 97 and served in the Women's Army Corps. She was an operating room technician back then. I love hearing Mom's stories about the military

She's a very spry, and bubbly 102 year old. I'm so glad that America and the world is giving her her flowers while she can see, touch and smell them. Wishing you many, many more, ma'am!!
