1972 GT6 - Part 94 - Assembling the transmission... fail!

The overdrive is assembled so it is time to put the transmission back together as well. I thought I diagnosed it and ordered all the parts I needed. Apparently that is only what I thought :)

Elin, as someone who is currently rebuilding a transmission, I don’t think that you could show it too many times. I’ve watched all your transmission videos several times each and always catch something new that pertains to me. So it may seem repetitive to some, but when you are trying to follow along at home, you can never see it too much! Thanks for all you do!!!

Been there 2 weeks ago and luckily I bought a few gearboxes on ebay years ago. That saved my Well now you have the time to get a NOS gear with all the teeth and maybe another housing. Best of luck and happy holidays. Cheers!

This made me remember my first attempt to rebuild the MGA transmission when I was just 19. I didn't realize that the synchro rings were worn out and finally gave it to a specialist. He was very friendly and explained the details to me so when it came time to rebuild the XK120 and Corvette boxes I was prepared. I certainly would have been better prepared if I had seen your videos, but I don't think you had been born yet at that time! 🙂 Merry Christmas to you and your clan!

Very nice work. If you want to get fancy take a look at a Motorcycle Bearing Puller kit or a Blind Hole Bearing Puller & Bearing Separator Set with Slide Hammer Collets. That would get that roller bearing out nicely.
