I was 10 years old and barely knew much about cricket. We listened to commentary of this match( we had no TV then). After this match, I became a cricket fan and entire India became Kapil dev's fan. This match was the turning point and the victory in final was time when entire India celebrated for the first time after independence probably ( except for 71 war).

Yes, Viv Richards' 189* is held to a higher standard by Wisden, but that wasn't done in a must win World Cup match, when your side is it at the brink of losing.

It still sucks that it never got aired live, but maybe one day when time machines are around, we'll be able to observe this spectacle.
