A girl had an organ removed because she had too many Hot Cheetos, but what about some other aches, pains, and even cancer claims? Back in 2018, rapper Lil Xan had to check himself into the hospital after one too many Hot Cheetos after it “ripped something in his stomach open a little bit.” But competitive eaters like Matt Stonie are able to slam back heaps of hot, ultra-spicy foods with little consequence. There are even claims about Takis being so spicy that it hospitalized children. So how much hot chips is too much? Let’s get into it!

I feel like as a general rule, if you're suddenly experiencing pain/discomfort in your stomach while eating, it's probably best to pause eating for a bit. Then again, I think that the biggest issue here is moderation/self control, which is what's causing the stomach pains to begin with.

I like how the mom fed her daughter several bags of chips a week and when she got sick, blamed the chips and not her parenting choices

One thing is a bit distorted here: Spicy food a.k.a. Capsaicin does NOT alter the stomach acid pH. It might create irritation which then leads to symptoms, but the acidity cannot be changed by it. Generally speaking, there is very little evidence to support that eating spicy alone causes gastric problems - otherwise large parts of India, China, Thailand and Vietnam would see lots of that.

I notice I feel fine when I eat homemade salsas no matter how much I eat or how spicy it is. But when it's artificial spices like hot cheetos, bottled hot sauces, etc it does get me sick if I Over eat it.

1:06 Flamin' Hot Cheetos are bright red. Pretty sure that was just him puking up flamin' hot cheetos. "Hmmm I ate something bright red by the handfuls and I puked up red stuff. Must've been blood. Couldn't have been the bright red stuff I just ate."

Heads up, “increasing PH” was used a few times in reference to making things more acidic (including in the meter during one of the animations). Increasing PH would make things _less acidic_, and that’s exactly what antacids do. To make something more acidic, you’d decrease the PH.

Yes I started eating hot Cheetos when it was poppin back in ‘02 ‘03.. kept bleeding everytime I pooped.. classmates told me it was normal. Fast forward 5 years later, I still experienced bleeding when I pooped. They misdiagnosed me and thought I had Crohn’s disease, but come to find out the hot Cheetos gave me a flare up in the intestines.. Long story short.. this isn’t new this has been going on for years, although they are quite delicious it’s not worth your health 🤷‍♀️

I remember this one child I knew who would eat hot Cheetos and Takis and all that stuff at a young age. By the time he was 13 he was battling stomach cancer. It went into remission until he turned 16 and passed away from it. It was such a sad turn of events to say the least.

Long time female gastritis sufferer here, caffeine, antiinflammatory pain killers, and greasy foods are also major triggers. And recently, I learned that hormonal birth control pills can also aggravate this already aggravating condition.

From where I live, our teachers and parents would always warn us about chips and instant noodles, how eating too many may cause things like UTI, ulcer or any stomach/kidney problem. Now I'm glad for those warnings.

My parents NEVER allow me to eat a whole big bag of chips (any sort) without sharing it. They have the mentality that it’s not good for people to eat a large sum of chips in one sitting and I genuinely respect their way of parenting. It’s sad that some parents let their children eat that many chips and spoil them in a way that they can’t live without the chips. You should always be careful and control what foods and the quantity of the food you eat because it’s just that important. No child or even an adult should go to the hospital because they ate spicy chips, that really shows how far their addiction has come and how far their parents would go just to make their child “happy”.

I like how when he give the list of causes for gastritis, he conveniently leaves out the obvious…coffee.

While spicy snacks alone may not cause cancer, the repeated acid reflux certainly can and does cause cancer. My mother had a hiatal hernia where her stomach was above her diaphragm, causing a U-shape bend in her esophagus, allowing stomach acid to pool in that area. The damaged area is precancerous, and she will have to have it checked regularly for the rest of her life. Anything that regularly causes stomach acid to go up the esophagus can cause throat cancer.

8:05 correction: rapid decreases in stomach pH values. Increase in pH would make it more alkaline.

It was a huge problem in schools; kids would bring a big bag, share it around (spreading germs)-- even during class-- and also have chips instead of school lunch. Kids aren't so good at moderation, and sometimes the parents were oblivious, or other times overly permissive.

Same thing happened to me as a teen but with sweet spicy Doritos, and it took them 2 full years/ almost dying before the hospital diagnosed it properly. Got my gallbladder removed the night I got diagnosed
