Man I wish I’d found this video about a week ago. I needed to replace my valve cover anyways because I’m pretty sure it was cracked, but I had the whistling noise and it would have been nice to confirm it was indeed a broken diaphragm.

Just replaced mine with $10 aftermarket PCV on Amazon. Took me about 15 minutes to get the job done.

I think some people just put a open flame and see if it goes back and forth

Question. Today I accidentally broke the nipple to the ventilation whole. Will this cause any problems? I see on the video it’s used to test the actual valve cover but will it cause any damage if the nipple was broken off. Thank you

PLEASE REPLY..like i said I am doing exactly like ur video..with a hand held vacuum...2008 BMW 328i sedan N52 engine...I don't have any whistling ..just a few rpms just upon first starting on old one....why would the new aftermarket test bad??

Hello!
I have the magnesium engine with the CCV on the manifold, there is a pin like the one you tested in the video but mine is in the top of the CCV body, could I test my CCV from that breather or is something different?

What were the symptoms when it was on the car? My car has the separate ccv, but it consumes oil. Kinda rough idle on cold starts but not significant. I'd like to find the issue of the oil consumption (1L/1000KM)

Some companies actually make the diaphragm for 60 bucks. Pry the lid up and replace. save yourself 400
