It is required to solve the right triangle given in a sketch showing the length of the hypotenuse and one leg (with angle C being the right angle). The methods for solving parts of a right triangle are reviewed. The length of the unknown side, side b, is found using the Pythagorean Theorem. The sine of angle A is found using sin(A) = opposite/hypotenuse and then angle A is obtained using the inverse sine of this ratio. As it is better to use given information rather that information found in the problem, angle B is found by a similar method. The cosine of angle B is found using cos(B) = adjacent/hypotenuse and then angle B is obtained using the inverse cosine of this ratio. Finally the answers for angle A and B are checked to see if the sum of the angles of the triangle add up to 180 degrees.
