Can't help but smile when he says, "I had to smile when I heard them turn Red out. Cause I was headed north to Tennessee and Ol' Red was headed south."😂😂😂 Also love how the last line of the song just ties up the end in a little bow. Great reaction!

Blake Shelton had to convince his record deal to release this and he was right. His career is historic.

I saw him perform this song 20 years ago as an opening act for a Toby Keith concert. I won tickets to the concert from a local country radio station. The tickets included a meet-and-greet with Blake. I have a picture of Blake standing between my sister and me with his arms hugging us. Even though my sister and I were "some" years older than Blake, we both acted like a couple of groupies. He's changed a bit since then and so have my sister and I, but we still love him! ❤

Love that song & love Blake Shelton! You have to go to one of Blake's bars/restaurants called Ole' Red (named after this song.) They have great food, souvenirs & live entertainment. Blake & others from The Voice have performed there. I went to the one in Nashville, TN. Also one in Gatlinburg, TN, one in Ada, Ok. where Blake grew up & I think Florida has one. Last I heard they were building one in Vegas! You & Ali would enjoy it. If you go to the one in Nashville, TN on Broadway the whole street is full of country music stars restaurant/bars. Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Kid Rock, Miranda Lambert & many others have one there too and it's a sight to see! Just get out of your car & walk down the street from one to another. You do have to pay for parking & it's crowded, but it's awesome!

🔥🔥🔥When he says “ waited for the time to get right”, he is referring to the blue tick female coming into her heat or breeding cycle. When a male dog smells the smell in the air, they can smell it for miles, that’s all they will do is go to it. It’s Impossible to get them to track or work. It’s pure instinct and that’s what they were counting on so he could get away.

Ole Red was Blake's first hit. Now he has several bars named Ole Red. Ole Red has been very good to Blake!

The dog portraying Ol' Red was the actual dog named Ol' Red that lived at the Angola Prison in Louisiana. There's quite the history behind that prison and those stories. The podcast Bloody Angola is quite the podcast!! A must listen!!

What’s really cool about this song is that the story is based in truth (as all good stories are)! We’ve actually met someone with a descendant of Ol’ Red & his lady!

Absolutely one of the greatest country songs - stereotypically southern song, such great lyrics to tell it!
