Both of them have different jobs, samurai are like honoured warriors and their job is to protect their emperor. Ninjas on the other hand, are scouts and spies, there main job is not to fight, although they are very strong and fast. If I wanted to be an honoured warrior I’d choose samurai, but if I like the art of stealthy fighting and mysterious souls I’d choose ninja. If they fight it’d most probably be a draw. But if ninjas only had swords like samurai they’d lose because their ability is to run away from battle not fight in it.

Ninjas were assasins. They cannot engage heavily armoured samurais in an open field.

Their main jobs were Intel gathering, espionage, and occasional assassination
They knew in a one on one fight against a Samurai they didn't stand a chance and would do everything they could to avoid it
On the rare occasion they had to fight, they didn't fight fair

Some of the Ninjas were in fact Samurai who had also been trained in assassination. And no, the Samurai were not honorable. They were known for their cruelty and corruption.

Part of this is incorrect. For most of Japanese history, ninja (also known as shinobi), worked with and used to be samurai. Come to the late 14th century and 15th century, there was a bit of conflict but i dont know why.

Ninjas were masters of intel and we’re practically assassins they would use shurikens and poison to kill there target but in a confrontation samurai would destroy them because samurai our train for combat ninjas are trained for assassination
