Golden Milk Tea Recipe (short version)
Показать описание
In this video, we’re using fresh herbs to create a large batch of this medicinal elixir. For specific rations using dried or fresh herbs, follow the guidelines below. Modify to your taste. And enjoy food as medicine!!
Provides 2-4 servings
2 cups water
1 tablespoon freshly grated turmeric (approximately a 6-inch piece) or 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
1/2-1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger (approximately a 2-4 inch piece) or 1/2-1 tablespoon ground ginger
2 cinnamon sticks or 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (we prefer Vietnamese cinnamon)
1/4 teaspoon or more of freshly ground black pepper
2 cups milk (coconut, almond, dairy, etc.)
2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (sweeten to your taste)
In a saucepan, heat the water to a low simmer. Chop or food process all the herbs (turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper) and add to the water. Let simmer for 15-30 minutes, or steep up to an hour or more for more flavor and potency (too much ginger may be too spicy for some and cooking the cinnamon sticks more than 30 minutes may give the tea a bitter flavor). Once brewed, strain the herbs out of the water (compostable), and pour tea about halfway full in a mug. If you’d like more sweetness consider adding a little honey (raw and local has more medicinal value) or maple syrup. Finish it off with a large topper of your choice of milk and enjoy the happy and healthy results of your culinary magic.
