While watching this, I still can't believe that Moonbin is no more here with us. The mental health and well being of idols should be discussed. We need to let them know that it's alright, we're all here.

The other members grew old, but Kim stayed 19. He will never grow a day older, we get to keep his precious memories.

My condolences to the family of the Kpop member who passed away. I was so shocked when I heard Moon Bin just passed away yesterday. Hope that they all will rest in peace.

NRG was no lie the first Kpop group I ever listened to. I lived in Korea from the years 2000-2002 and they had a song called "Hit Song" that played all of the time.

Just seeing his mom talk to him in the hospital and realizing we are able to watch that intimate moment to this day is so bittersweet... To think that private moment was covered like this breaks my heart but it was like that back then. Her words to his son shake my heart

It seems like his pneumonia was a complication of another infection. Unfortunately, he was too young to die. He had a lot of years ahead of him, but he was taken away at the peak of his career. I hope his family is now at peace. Rest in paradise.

It hurts to understand more about the insides of being an idol, especially after finding out about Moonbin's passing.

While watching this video, I was on the verge of tears. 😢 I can understand how fans felt about the loss of their idol.
Today, I heard Moonbin from ASTRO passed away. I'm not a fan of his, but I did hear their songs, and I liked his name, which i found unique. Deepest condolence to Kim (Energy) and moonbin (Astro)🥺🥺

My oldest sister was heart broken when this happened. I’m an ICU nurse. Thankfully medicine has come a long way. Even in the past 5 years. It’s likely he just had the same bugs (viral and bacterial both) that make us sick today. We now call this sepsis and septic shock that led to acute respiratory distress syndrome or ARDS. It’s a complication of a respiratory infection. It’s what makes the flu, RSV, Covid etc. fatal. It can happen to anyone. He needed antibiotics as soon as possible. We now (at least in the Americas) have protocols in place to recognize this earlier and treat it with IV antibiotics, monitor labs, IV fluids and control other symptoms. It’s a big deal in hospitals everywhere. My heart breaks for him. But I like to think of it like this: His case along with many other young people’s helped us to treat countless others. So thank you for your sacrifice and RIP, your gorgeous spirit and voice lives on. May your family be covered by love and light until you all meet again ❤

Seeing his mother talking to him while he's in such a bad stage broke my heart. Rest in peace.

Sad, he was so young and talented not to mention it sounds like he had a really kind and gentle heart. He shouldn't have lost his life so young and at the peak of his career with so much left that he wanted to accomplish.

I had a friend that went to China normal and healthy about 8 years ago, but once she got back, she started showing signs of MS and her body and health went down hill so quickly. She was diagnosed eventually with MS and another neurological condition, but was awaiting yet another diagnosis. Before she passed, she was wheelchair bound and needed an oxygen tank to breath. She eventually passed when the pandemic came around because she contracted covid from a family member. But even after her passing, we still don't know what caused her initial breakdown.

Such a loss of Kim Hwan Sung so young, and the heartbreak his family and friends must feel. Losing a child is such a heartbreak that is too hard to heal. I'm glad he was so loved during his short life.

As a second (and somewhat first) gen kpop fan noona who grew up with TVXQ and Super Junior and also fell in love with earlier groups like NRG and Shinhwa, I get so nostalgic for these times. There was something incredibly soulful about kpop in the early 2000s, and I become so wistful thinking of it. The early days of using internet imageboards and fancafes, flip phones with crappy cameras, having to go to greater lengths to find clips and images of your favorite idols etc. Because there were fewer groups back then, fans really poured 100% of their intensity and feelings into them and directed all their energy towards them, everyone would be in awe at how passionate Korean fans were about their idols, their dedication was insane. Hwansung was one of the OG flower boys and his image is so iconic, so talented with such a naturally handsome face, the 90s middle part hair and highlights, haha. What an angel. His death was so devastating, but the way fans rallied together and shared their grief while comforting each other was incredible. The emotions associated with that time are so powerful. There is an innocence lost that we can never get back. It was really such a simple time compared to now.

I'm almost certain it's Lemierre syndrome- it comes closest to the description of how this pop idol suffered from an initial sore throat/ tonsilitis that eventually became a severe respiratory infection leading to his demise. The syndrome affects healthy young adults and adolescents- starts off as tonsilitis- but the bacteria Fusobacterium necrophorum that is largely responsible for it (in combination with a large variety of other bacteria) causes an infected blood clot to pass through the jugular vein, circulating in the entire body, affecting the brain, the respiratory system, the skeletal system (which is why the doctors said that even if he recovered, he wouldn't be the same). The infection causes "sepsis, " a condition in which the infected blood travels throughout the patient's body, severely damaging all major organs, thereby shutting down all major bodily functions that, then, become the most life-threatening stage in the process.

such a sad case, i've been in the kpop fandom awhile and i had never heard of this. i'm glad you brought more discussion to it, he should be remembered and honored so hopefully this video will bring more of that. so sweet to see his members still speaking fondly and keeping his spirit alive. i feel so bad for his mother, i can't imagine her pain; i know it's been a while but that pain never goes away. sending so much love to his family!

Your whole description of how K-pop was back then, very accurate. I rmb it so vividly even though I was just a teen back then. So so diff than how K-pop is now but somehow I guess things have improved a lot now, but yeah, our OGs who paved the way for more to come after them, thank you so much..
