Today I want to discuss what some might call an addiction to shopping and spending so much money on clothes. Despite all the videos I do, I have actually dramatically cut down the amount of clothes and shoes I buy in recent years and in today's video I want to share some ways I have achieved this. Thanks for watching!

I caught myself buying the same items twice and forgetting that I already had it. That’s when I decided to make a change. Donated or just gave away about half of my wardrobe and I feel much better. In the process I realized that I almost always wore the same items anyway and most of my purchases would just sit in the closet. I think great marketing and the desire to belong and be part of the fashionable and trendy community fueled my need to make unnecessary purchases. I still enjoy fashion and appreciate clothes and sneakers without the need to buy everything I see. Thank you for the video James. 👍🏻

If you ever start a depop selling your old peices do give us a heads up! Buying second hand is always a viable option and should be promoted more

Definitely something that I have been really doing Elmore recently. It’s actually made clothing more enjoyable as I’m really excited about the pieces I do choose to buy, as it’s not so often. I also just cleared out all the clothes I no longer wear and it feels so good! Great video mate

A big changer for me was knowing my measurements. I know buy more confidently online and invest in better fitting pieces.
Another one was selling my clothes online. I have a rule of only buying one item, after selling another one that I don't use.

Thankful for this video. It must be a sign because lately I have been thinking about all the clothes I own and how overwhelmed I feel about all of it. I think having a few quality items is definitely sufficient and there is no need to continue to chase the styles and trends that are currently in. It truly does take so much energy and money to follow the trends. Thanks again

I can honestly say Uniqlo has changed my shopping habits, the clothes are affordable and go well together. Before that, I always tried to dress like Kanye West, tryna chase the trend and new look. I now want to dress “normal” there’s no need to have 10 different color ways of the same shoe silhouette. I reflected on my shopping habits and realized that people do not care if you’re that stylish person or have brand new sneakers. I’ve been on successful dates with some of my most used converse, never let your clothes dictate your personality and save your money because life is more than trying to look cool all the damn time

I'm having this problem right now. I've spent like $600 in a month at just Uniqlo. And i've just bought two chuck 70s. So i'm at like 800+.

In my defense, I havent really bought a lot of clothes in like 10 years. But man it's bad lol. I've decided that I'm gonna force myself to keep something on a wishlist for 2 weeks and then buy it if I want it or not. Unless it's something i've been waiting for to buy.

Great video as always James! I’m currently going into my phase of buying better quality clothing with a steeper price as to buying cheap but buying twice phase, and I can say that I agree with whatever you’ve said in the video. Keep up with the amazing videos!

Depop can be a great option for selling clothes you don’t wear anymore. I do that myself and have gained most of my money back that way 👍🏼

Why not learn to make your own clothes? More and more men are doing precisely this and you can purchase some beginner sewing patterns that you can adapt to your own tastes, even though, admittedly, there is a paucity of male sewing patterns on the market.

I use have a few designer pieces that sadly the moths had a feast on. However, I’m no longer obsessed over fashion as I was when I was younger.

Furthermore, you can find some good suiting material if you look around, at reasonable prices. I’ve acquired some good fabrics which I plan to put to good use in the future!

I have a thing about buying shoes 👞 and recently discovered about 5 pairs of brand new shoes that I had completely forgotten about. Therefore, I can understand that buying gives you an instant buzz but soon dies down when you realise that you have no more space for your newly acquired pair of shiny new shoes 👞 or clothing . 😢

I don’t have the time or the space to take out the sewing machine because my home has become so cluttered as a result of buying things on impulse but regretting it later.

I use to be obsessed with designer clothes, but not so much now as I have gotten older.

Have you got enough space to accommodate the items of clothing you already have, never mind future additions? This is the fundamental question people should be asking themselves when they plan to purchase an item that they may never wear. 😢

I'm in the same place, I have been decluttering the 2010s from my life ever since. People don't talk enough about the process of decluttering everything you hoard post-shopping addiction. I sold a lot of facebook market place, donated some to women's shelters and gave things away when I could.
