Using the M-Audio Hammer 88 Pro standalone WITHOUT a DAW - Plug and Play Demo for Beginners & Pros!

If you're just learning to play piano, or you're a seasoned player and looking for a new 88 key keyboard, don't pass off the M-Audio Hammer 88 Pro just because it's a controller! In this video I talk about using the M-Audio Hammer 88 Pro standalone without any DAW and taking advantage of the included virtual instruments such as the Mini Grand (Piano sounds), Hybrid (Synth sounds), and the Velvet (Electric Piano sounds).

It's as simple as plugging the Hammer 88 Pro into the computer and pulling up the plugins to jump right in and start playing! Regardless of whether you're a beginner just starting out and want something that is going to grow with you, or if you're a pro player that is looking for something to expand on, in my opinion the M Audio Hammer 88 Pro is a great option to just plug and play, but also have the ability to learn computer recording and DAW's as you grow!

Finally! Just what I need to know without a hour-long lecture on synth settings. This won't be the first keyboard I buy. But it might be the second.

Just bought a hammer 88 pro, quite an upgrade from my dx-7! Do you have a video showing how to use a hammer 88 pro to control a keyboard, like a dx-7 and how this setup could be useful?

That’s why I’m considering Arturia cause it comes with so many sounds. ALmost 7000 sounds in Analog Lab.

Wow! I had no idea they had that many samples included. I'll probably pull the trigger on this soon.

Thanks for this straight to the point presentation. Can this midi controller produce similar piano with warmpad accompaniment sound as the Nord Stage 3 ?

Great video! I just bought a hammer 88 pro and am a bit overwhelmed with all the software. Also, I was surprised that there was no 1/4" jack output! If I want to run my controller into an amp do I use a 1/8" male from the computer to a 1/4" male to the amp?

I want to split layer piano with Hammond B3 in the left hand with octave and level control and sustain pedal and everything a Hammond B3 does. Then I want to layer piano and a bright electric piano in the right hand. Maybe add strings or pads left hand. Can I do that with the M-Audio Hammer 88 Pro. What other DAWs would do this..

Enjoy your videos. I have M-Audio’s Keystation and the Hammer. I play at my church so I have to pack and unpack a nano controller and a smaller keyboard. Looking forward to getting this keyboard to save me from carrying so much equipment.

Great video. I'm looking at getting back into playing and wanting to upgrade to a digital keyboard. I was looking at the Arturia Keylab 88 mk 2. Which would you recommend?

Thx DSundman. Wish I’d known this was coming down the pipeline before I bought my Arturia Keylab Essential 88. I know it’s about $400 more, but I’m not really a big fan of Analog Lab, (I’ve got vst’s galore already). I wondered why Arturia didn’t include a great standalone piano that didn’t attempt to sell you something while downloading and installing. Way of the world I guess. Subscribed!

Is this still a good midi controller today? Or are there better options price-wise please?

Hi, what speakers do you use for your own enjoyment while listening to the piano?

I'm unable to download the M-Audio Software manager. always pops up as Error code 403. is there a way to resolve this?

Hi. I've seen many of your videos on the Nord Stage 3 and 4. I just got a Stage 3 and when I midi'd it from my Yamaha KX88, I was surprised to see that it was the same as if I was playing the Nord with 88 keys. But my Yamaha weighs a ton and does not work for playing out. Will the M-Audio work without being connected to a computer and work as a controller for the Nord?

How do you plug in the Hammer 88 Pro to a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface?

Thank you for the video. About latency do you think there is big difference between asio4all drivers with onboard soundcard and an external usb card? And in terms of sound quality there is big difference? Thanx in advance
